THE DAY GOD WALKED AWAY was awarded the top prize as well as the best actress award at the recent Bratislava International Film Festival, adding to the Thessaloniki and San Sebastian awards.

The Audience Award went to Felix van Groeningen's Foreign Language Oscar submission, THE MISFORTUNATES.

DOGTOOTH winner at Stockholm International Film Festival


After an already awardwinning year (Cannes' Un Certain regard, Special Jury Award and Best actress at Sarajevo International Film Festival, Youth Jury Award and Citizen Kane Award to an up-and-coming director at Sitges Film Festival, Best Film at Estoril International Film Festival) Yorgos Lanthimos' DOGTOOTH picked up its seventh award at the Saturday night Award ceremony in Stockholm.

Stockholm International Film Festival awarded DOGTOOTH the Bronze Horse prize for Best Film.

Meanwhile Alastair Siddons' TURN IT LOOSE was awarded the 'Enfants Terribles' prize for Best Feature Film for audiences over 12 years of age at the Gijon International Film Festival.

THE DAY GOD WALKED AWAY winner at Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Ruth Nirere was awarded the prize for best actress at the 50th Thessaloniki International Film Festival for her deeply moving performance in THE DAY GOD WALKED AWAY by Philippe van Leeuw. She proudly received her trophy by the jury chaired by Theo Angelopoulos at the Awards ceremony on November 22.


The critically acclaimed film THE DAY GOD WALKED AWAY, directed by Philippe Van Leeuw, recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Kutxa New Directors Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

"Dogtooth" winner at Estoril International Film Festival!

As the the 2009 edition of the Estoril Film Festival came to a close, Yorgos Lanthimos' DOGTOOTH was awarded the Best Film Award by a jury composed of David Byrne, Cindy Sherman, Alexandre Desplat, Rui Horta and Manfred Eicher.

This adds to the film's already long list of festival awards including the Cannes Un Certain Regard Award for best film, the Sarajevo Film Festival Special Jury Prize and the top prize at the Montréal Festival du Nouveau Cinéma.

MK2 has closed distribution deals for US, UK, Australia, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and many other major territories are currently in negotiations.
